Generous Life

Saturday, September 30, 9 AM – 4 PM, Broadview Heights Campus
The leadership of CVC is excited to announce that we have partnered with Generous Giving to bring you a free church-wide Journey of Generosity event. A Journey of Generosity is a retreat designed to begin a conversation around generosity from a biblical perspective. It is called a Journey of Generosity (JOG) because we are all on our own journeys and it is invaluable to come together to encourage each other along the way.
In 2022 our entire leadership team, several of our Elders, and some CVC members attended a JOG and had some incredible things to say about it including: Transformational! Best Workshop! Nothing else this in-depth! Never seen anything like this! Worth every minute of my time! Join CVC for our upcoming Journey of Generosity event on Saturday, September 30 from 9 AM – 4 PM at the Broadview Heights Campus.

One of the main goals for the Generous Life ministry is to educate and equip God’s people, from cradle to grave, to fight the cultural myths in a society that contradicts biblical financial principles. Finances are important to God, as evidenced by over 2,000 verses in Scripture on the topic, and it should be of great importance to us.

Through Generous Life, Cuyahoga Valley Church provides opportunities to learn about and live a Christ-centered blessed life by embracing God’s perspective on financial and stewardship principles

Our goal is to see every person become a Christ-centered steward who gives generously, saves regularly, lives debt free, and understands God’s perspective on money and possessions. Whether young or old, struggling or in surplus, everyone needs to understand God’s heart on these principles!

MISSION
Our mission is to change thinking so that we are managing all of God’s blessings God’s way for God’s glory.

Romans 12:2 (ESV)
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

OBJECTIVE
Disciple people to become Love-Inspired Stewards who believe that God not only created and provided all that we have but that God retains full ownership causing all decisions related to money and possessions to be in the context of seeking God’s direction in the use of His possessions.

BIBLICAL BASIS
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.”
Psalm 24:1 (ESV)

“As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”
1 Timothy 6:17-19 (ESV)

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV)

“And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Luke 12:15 (ESV)

“Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.”
Matthew 25:27 (ESV)

“Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth’.”
Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (ESV)

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Matthew 6:24 (ESV)
